Members Slimnasium Posted April 17, 2006 Members Posted April 17, 2006 Afternoon all- I'm heading up to TB 21-23 Apr for some fishing. Does anyone have some 'where to' and 'what works' pointers for that area? I'll concentrate on crappie and bass (unless the crappie is too good) but am willing to try whites or anything that works. I'll be putting in at Big Cedar and would love to get my 12-year old girl into some crappie. Thanks Slim
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 20, 2006 Root Admin Posted April 20, 2006 Just hit the banks that look good for crappie- transision- pea gravel+some rock- anyplace there's brush. Don't assume they're on the bank- fish off the banks 10-15 feet around trees. Try bluff banks around standing timber 10 feet deep. I'd head towards Long (south). Troll- for whites I'd go into Clevenger and troll the north bank for whites (channel bank).
Members Slimnasium Posted May 3, 2006 Author Members Posted May 3, 2006 Thanks- I ended up going down to the Cricket Creek area poking around. I only got about a dozen nice ones on Saturday but on Sunday morning I went a little further in AR and found a spot that produced 20 in the 1 pound range in just a couple of hours. I was in tree tops, 26-30 ft deep. Early I was catching them at 8-10 ft, the last hour was in the 6 ft deep range. I also dropped my cell phone in the lake, which really wasn't such a bad thing.
Members Slimnasium Posted May 3, 2006 Author Members Posted May 3, 2006 Sorry. Yeah, crappie. Nice ones. I spent a fair amount of time scouting around on Saturday. Got lucky enough to pick a good one to start out Sunday morning. Unfortunately I had to hit the road around 1000.
