Met Bart from Springfield and his two boys today and setout of Mill Creek Ramp at 6:30 in the AM. Ran up to Point 9 looking for the Whites, and they didn't show. A big Zero there, and that was the last zero, we were going to take on this Wonderful day in the Ozarks.

Fished over 6 hrs. under the most enjoyable conditions, I can ever remeber, with perhaps my best set of 3 clients of the year. You just get a feeling about people, I told my wife this was going to be one of those great days, and it sure didn't disapoint.

The K's were everywhere we went, not tons, mind you, but good quanities and very nice quality. With the White Puffy Clouds overheard and a gentle breeze, we caught fish on the next 9 locations, without a miss. Best 5 for the group, in the 13.5 to 14 pound range, just really nice K's.

Dropped shotted crawlers and spooned in 26 to 36 and you could see them come for the bait. Really good stuff.

Bart's boys start school tomorrow, and this is the way to send them back to the grind, with a super day of fishing on beautiful Table Rock lake.

This is why I do what I do. My heart is in a very good place right now.

Good Luck

Same story at the dam Bill.

Took out Charlie King and his girl friend Melissa for a split day (1/2 Table Rock & 1/2 on Taney). Found a few whites near Emerald point, they just really didn't stay up for long. Switched up and started throwing Jewel football and spider jigs on points and caught a bunch of smallies including several keepers and a couple pushing 3.5 lbs.

Put it on the trailer at 10:30 and headed to Taney, caught about 10 smaller rainbows in the first hour and then they kicked on four generators. It was a slobberknocker for the rest of the trip drifting with crawlers and Gulp eggs. Several fish over 14" including a dandy 18" bow Melissa caught.

Great day, great weather and awsome clients.

Bill,

This is going to sound incredibly novice, but I have never thought to dropshot crawlers (I have always dropshotted finesse worms). Thank you for another tip. Many people get on here and pick up bits of knowledge without ever saying thank you, so I thought I would. The Mizzou logo on you avatar is great (my cornmaze is MIZZOU this year).

Also, thank you to Phil and all you other pros and guides that don't have to post but still do.

I always drop shot crawlers. I have tried several different types/colors of finesse worms but the crawlers seem to perform better from my experience, I just hate the mess.

Ok, guess it was a bad decision not to go this afternoon. I had a rough time saturday, and after reading all your reports, i felt better about it. So i didnt go out today, cause the high pressure is still around. But i guess the fish had to start eating again sometime.

So, for the pros, why did they start eating better today, before the next front gets here??? Any ideas?

Bill,

Thanks so much for an awesome day, the boys have talked about nothing else since. Alex now wants to be a fishing guide

and Austin (the lucky one) wants to be a professional tournament fisherman. So you can add career counselor to your list of talents.

We saw you speak this spring at the Springfield Nature Center and knew we had to go fishing with you.... and boy are we glad we did, it was the best day fishing we've ever had!!!

It was a perfect morning (except for being out fished by both my sons).

Here are a couple of pics from todays fun:

Thanks again Bill, you were great!

Regards,

Bart

One tip I learned from a guide... Get yourself a small lunchbox sized cooler and fill it 1/3 full with ice and water. Dump the crawlers out of the box and rinse the dirt off and put em in the cooler. They will stay lively as long as it stays cold and you dont end up with worm dirt all over your hands... and the boat!

Hey thanks for the tip, I'll be sure to try that this weekend.
