ozark trout fisher Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 I've have considered the possibility, of in a few years (or when I feel I have adequate river experience) starting a fishing guide service (for trout and smallmouth bass) on the Current and Jacks Fork River. I am aware that a National Park Service Permit is necessary, but I have tried contacting them a few times to no avail. So, does anyone have any ideas of the costs, and or difficulties of getting one of these permits? I would be running them out of an unmotorized drift boat. Even if you're not totally sure, I would appreciate the slightest bit of advice. I'm really having trouble finding the information I need here. It's pretty frustrating.
Gene K Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Did you complete and send in a commercial use application? I think that's the first step. You send that in and they send you back a packet of information. You can find the document here: http://www.nps.gov/ozar/parkmgmt/upload/OZ...Application.doc When you called did you call the Van Buren office (573) 323-4236?

That's no good.... I thought the government was always prompt in they're replies, and did everything perfect. Just kidding of course. I'll give them a call on Monday. Wait, its Labor Day weekend isn't it.. I mean Tuesday.
ozark trout fisher Posted September 6, 2009 Author Posted September 6, 2009 Talk to Norm Crisp. Streamsideadventures.com Thanks for the advice everyone.
flyfishmaster Posted September 7, 2009 Posted September 7, 2009 OTF, I think Sam Potter had a post a year or so ago about obtaining a permit on the Current. I think he indicated it is a bit of paper work (inject sarcasm here). Later, FFM Woo Hoo Fish On!!
