Members Doc Dave Posted September 9, 2009 Members Posted September 9, 2009 Anyone fishing below the dam or around JFK Lately? Erin Go Bragh
Mike Davis Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 I haven't been out much lately due to some family issues. The few times I've been out the fish haven't been very cooperative. It's been very inconsistent. I talked to a bait fisherman that camped at JFK and he caught one fish in three days and the two guys he was fishing with two of those days didn't catch any. I have a spot that I like to fish and in two hours I caught six fish .. all on a red and copper Zebra midge. Talking to folks that have been around Winkley .. they are saying pretty much the same thing. Very inconsistent. One or two good days and then two or three bad days. There does seem to be an improvement lately though. Maybe now that the summer crowds are gone, fishing and catching will get better. Mike I went to buy batteries but they weren't included. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 14, 2009 Root Admin Posted September 14, 2009 Mike- how is the water quality on the Little Red? Have a feel for the fall forecast? Here on Taney, with the cold winter and mild summer, we're expecting a pretty good fall as far as water temp. That helps the low DO when it comes but really it's not that bad right now. Just curious if it may be the same for you down there. So if the water is good, is the lack of catching less fish or just not biting?
Mike Davis Posted September 14, 2009 Posted September 14, 2009 According to the graph I have the DO is marginal at best. Low 6. to high 5. with an occasional spurt of about 7.0. I was talking with the hatchery manager and she feels it's the result of last years high water. The DO near the dam was horrible then and she said they stocked more fish further down river than they did near the park. It does seem to be getting a little more consistent lately so maybe the summer crowds being gone is helping. I'll be gone for a couple weeks but I'll try to check in from the road and see if I can find out what's the latest on the river. Mike I went to buy batteries but they weren't included. Steven Wright
Members jkilroy Posted September 15, 2009 Members Posted September 15, 2009 I've been fishing the Little Red one day every weekend, I've been using mostly streamers, but after hours of no luck with streamers, I switch to nymphs. I usually catch a few here and a few there. I thought it was because I wasn't doing something right. Appears I'm not the only one with little to no luck. The White and Norfolk on another note have been fishing real good.
