Members CS Huntley Posted October 21, 2009 Members Posted October 21, 2009 Max is looking for (specificly) Bennett and Niangua fly fishing advice.. Anybody feel like compiling a bit for him? Haven't been on the Niangua since August, but I usually stop at Readings Fly Shop on HWY 64 on my way to the river. They usually have a good read on what they're biting on, both in the park as well as the river. If fishing the Niangua, the is a very productive hole just past the River Access across from Bennett Springs State Park. Turn into the dirt road at the access and drive all the way to the end (it ends at the concrete boat ramp). Wade out directly from the ramp, but keep to the right side as thats the shallowest part. Once you get out into the middle turn left and start walking down river. I actually start casting about there and just keep working your way down to where there is a large dead tree near the bank, on the boat ramp side of the river. The water is fast and deep there and if you work the bottom you really should catch fish. That whole side from there down to the next ripple has always been very productive for me. Good Luck!
