Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 22, 2006 Root Admin Posted April 22, 2006 Vince and I put in at State Park and started right there and went into the marina cove fishing grubs, smoke, along the bank- 6:30 am. We caught nice goggleye and bass- kentuckies and smallmouth. Mad 10 keeper, very nice gogs and 6 keeper bass plus smaller ones before 8 am. We tried some other main lakes banks towards the dam with little success. The fish were off the bank 8-12 feet dee I'd say. Some of the bass showed signs of spawning- rubbed tails and bellies. Kept the gogs- released all bass.
Hunter91 Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 My son and I fished the Indian Point area and also caught some nice rock bass on grubs and french fry worms. some of those fish were over a pound! Where do these goggle eye and rock bass go after the spawn? I fish for bluegill during the summer off points in deep water and catch some real nice ones but never catch any rock bass or goggle eye. Any ideas?
FRENZEL Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 In the summer I usually catch them close to brushpiles or trees in 6-15 feet of water around the dam area. TRACY FRENZEL FRENZELS GUIDE SERVICE 417-699-2277 "ONE MORE CAST"
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 23, 2006 Author Root Admin Posted April 23, 2006 Vince and I were talking about just that yesterday... we though they suspend someplace in groups- mid lake, bluffs around trees... you're right - you never see them (or at least I don't) accept this time of year. Ours were full of crawdads- I'm taking an 1/8th oz sculpin jig next time I go and work it off the bottom- I bet I catch lots more of them!
