oneshot Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Ok if no water is being run would a 12 foot Jon with Trolling Motor be too small? Or just fish from the bank? oneshot
Gatorjet Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 There are canoes and kaiaks on the lake in the summer, but I wouldn't want to try a little jon boat. During the week it might not be too bad, but weekend boat traffic could be dangerous. A friend brought one down one year for a tournament in February, and after using it for a short time Friday morning, they decided to rent a boat for the tournament. Also, this is posted under lower Taneycomo so depending on how far down from the dam you are, you might not know if they start to generate. With just a trolling motor, you might be in for a long, unplanned drift! Bank or dock fishing can be very productive, and boat rentals for some of the smaller boats that are still adequate and safe are pretty reasonable at most places. Real men go propless!

I was thinking Rockaway Beach.Probably just fish from the bank. oneshot
Gatorjet Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 Probably be OK if you stayed in Bull Creek. Don't know for sure, don't get down that far too much. Real men go propless!
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 28, 2009 Posted September 28, 2009 You would be fine oneshot, as long as you weren't overloaded. The lake is pretty well protected and doesn't get that rough. You would be fine out of Empire or Rockaway. There's seldom enough current to really notice. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

Never have gone all the way to the dam to try it? It's a good run from Lilley's, but might be worth it. Real men go propless!
Wayne SW/MO Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 The fishing isn't bad, but its not any better, and probably not as good as Lilly's area. It wouldn't be worth the run by water in my opinion. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
