Brian Wise Posted September 29, 2009 Posted September 29, 2009 Hey guys, Sorry for the lack of reports....been on the water a TON--and still wading through photos! Fishing has been sickening guys. We recently had a bout with high water and since that water has been dropping fishing has been great! All the usual suspects as far as flies go, but with some big nasty streamer action thrown into the mix too. Teaser photos: With some big smallmouth thrown into the mix as well! Members Oldschoolcane Posted October 5, 2009 Members Posted October 5, 2009 Brian..........Some nice fish, looks like my son and I will be on our way down for this weekend. Staying at ROLF. I'll say hello if we run into you, hope the waters okay. Its been a long time since I've been on the river, will be good to be back. Tim
Brian Wise Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 Hopefully some of the heavy rain that is possibly in the forecast will either hold off or not fall 'too' hard. The weekend looks like a great Fall weekend...and the colors are already pretty. Fish deep with Rubber-leg Stones, Psycho Princes, and we have also been drifting some Mohair Leeches with some streamer action thrown in there too. Hope to meet you! Brian My Youtube Channel
Tito Degiosio Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Great photo's got to love those fall colors Brian S. and I took off to the river in time to fish the afternoon from sunburst to patrick bridge didn't catch alot of fish but did catch my first brown out of the NFOW and measured in at 17 inches so it was worth the trip right there did land a few more between me and brian mostly small rainbows with brian doing what he is good at catching those scared rainbows out of some holes that call for alittle more then what I could throw at them And thanks to him I was atleast able to see some healthy rainbows that were getting some nice color to them all in all besides the drunk at patrick who grabbed the canoe and almost got tangled in our rods in was a great afternoon and will be back as soon as I can I hope to make it down before Oct. is up but if not I will be down in Nov. Members Oldschoolcane Posted October 8, 2009 Members Posted October 8, 2009 Raining here in Kansas City, not sure about down south? I'll check the weather, any ideas about the river with a little or more rain? If the river does get muddy, what are our options?? Tim
Brian Wise Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Hey Tim, Sorry to get with you so late......I am guessing here but pretty much any river below hwy 60 (excluding Taney) will probably be blown out. I would head for a tailwater and hope they aren't generating or wait for another time. It sucks....my fisherman arrived last night to wake up this morning to the river 3' higher than when they went to bed. Brian My Youtube Channel
Members Oldschoolcane Posted October 12, 2009 Members Posted October 12, 2009 Yep, my son had Friday off at school so this weekend was our only chance to come down this fall. I checked the weather over and over and thought the rain would go to the north east, I was wrong and we drove down in the rain and it never quit until later Friday. Considered the tailwaters but I think they were equally difficult to fish without a boat. We camped at ROLF, smoked cigars and tied flies. We had a good time but would have loved to have been fishing. Enjoyed our time at ROLF, I've always enjoyed this river and the area. Tim
