Thom Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Hey all who fish upper Taney Ideas and suggestions for the next three days. Will get to Taney about 4pm thursday and leave Saturday morning. I will not bring my boat so what do you all suggest? Fly fishing is my choice of methods but I am limited due to bad knee. I can handle some wading but have to be careful or it will be swimming instead of wading Water predictions? May even consider a guide on Friday or renting a boat but that is hard to do alone. Any ideas' appreciated. reply here or PM before tomorrow at 9am Thanks in advance. Thom Harvengt
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted September 30, 2009 Root Admin Posted September 30, 2009 Looks like generation is about the same everyday... off in am and 1 unit in pm. Both are wadeable. It really is easy wading if you take a boat up to Andy's house and wade the shallow side, even when the water is running. No one does this. You can take a jon and use an anchor and fish the shallow side too. Use the anchor to hold you to fish one area, then move down. Not much midge action which I'm really disappointed in or soft hackles would work. I haven't tried woolies but they may work on the shallow side. You might wade in to Pointe Royale area and try there. Seems to be less crowded.
Thom Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 Thanks Phil I will probably be in early Friday to rent a boat. I figured that would be my best bet to fish most of the day. I wish the midge hatch would be good ... that has been my best fly in recent years in that area but I have a fly box full of other possibilies. I am sure glad that the rain forcast earlier firday was changed but it looks like thunderstorms Thusday but I wont get there until late in the afternoon anyway. Thom Thom Harvengt
fly2fish Posted September 30, 2009 Posted September 30, 2009 Hey Thom, I will be there Friday night if my mother is out of the hospital and back to the nursing home. I will be staying through Monday. If you are leaving Sat. morning you probably don't want to fish late Friday night, but if you do let me know, I am going to try and drag Leonard out. F2F
Thom Posted September 30, 2009 Author Posted September 30, 2009 I will check and see if you guys are out and about friday night .. I just dont do to good in the dark with my bad knee. I may try to fish Saturday morn if the angler hatch is not to thick below the dam. The last time I was down the week end was crazy with lots of snaggers, shufflers, and bait ... oh this is a restricted area???? aparently cant read guys hovering over everyone who is catching fish.
