Members billynwtf Posted October 3, 2009 Members Posted October 3, 2009 I am planning a trip for sometime in DEC. can someone give me some information about where to stay? I would like to fish the Crane 2-3 days.
RSBreth Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 I don't know about lodging being a problem- for that close of a trip I'd just go back home at night. I know I do for Ozark from Crane. EDIT-`I see now, Monette ARKANSAS, not Monett Missouri - my bad. Republic has to have something.
Dutch Posted October 4, 2009 Posted October 4, 2009 You would have to look at the Branson West/Kimberling City area or north there is a motel in Republic and Aurora.
Members CBNMO Posted October 6, 2009 Members Posted October 6, 2009 What else do you want to do? If you plan to go to Springfield, then Republic is in between. If you want to go to a show or check out Branson then there's several places on the west side of town toward Branson West. Aurora is closest then Monett about the same as Republic. But not much selection and not a whole lot else to do around there? Daylight will be short by then so you might want something else to do? In December there is the Christmas light drive thru at Shepard of the Hills and Silver Dollar City is open for Christmas festival during December too. Pretty impressive if your into LOTS of Christmas lights. (both toward Branson). Of course Springfield has Bass Pro and Grizzly. If you have at least a couple people getting rooms, you might look at renting a house or condo? If that suits your needs? I've seen some in Galena (pretty close), and several at Branson West and Indian Point (by Silver Dollar City). Was a couple houses in Springfield. I never rented through them and know nothing except what i've read on their website, but have looked at "Vacation Rentals By Owner", website. Anywheres from $70 up to $Lots per night. With a cleaning fee. Just another option. Enjoy your stay !
Members parachiteadams39 Posted October 7, 2009 Members Posted October 7, 2009 Yep Bass Pro is cool and of course Grizzly where you can look at all that shiny Chinese equipment! Aurora is closest but yep, slip pickings as far as recreation. Wal-mart.
fly2fish Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 You could also make a night trip to Taney and catch more and bigger fish than Crane.... F2F
