Members jnorman Posted October 5, 2009 Members Posted October 5, 2009 Does anybody have a report on the fall hybrids/whites or walleye? I think I am going to come down Wednesday and one day next week before it gets to cold. Just wondering if anybody is having any luck. Jared The best time to fish is when it's raining . . . and when it's not!
shaker Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I would like to know myself as I haven't been down that way for a while. But I don't think much is happening yet, the corps has not been running much water lately. I think that the water is plenty warm yet too, the lake is about a foot high with heavy rains predicted in the next couple of days then a serious cold front following that if you can believe the weather guessers, maybe that will get things fired up!
dwiebenga Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Is the Corp running water? If so, How is the fishing?
shaker Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 The corps has been running water through the generators about 30.000 according to their web site and will through the weekend if you can believe them. I haven't been down but a friend was there Wednesday and did catch some white cat on fresh shad, didn't see any whites or hybrids caught.
brownieman Posted October 16, 2009 Posted October 16, 2009 Got a buddy was up there last week-end. He said they caught the tar out of big cats, mainly blues...he caught several between 20 and 50 lbs and said there were some bigger ones caught. He said the whites and birds were spuratic...bite was mostly early and late in the day as usual but there is no second guessing those dang fish. If you're a cat fisherman at all he said it's the best he's seen in several years and they were hitting all day long where as the bite is generally better at night for the cats. About all I've heard and this buddy tells it like it is from my experience. Hope this helps... later on bm My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
Members Zach Beach Posted October 21, 2009 Members Posted October 21, 2009 I'm planning on being up on that part of the lake thursday or friday. Was wondering if with the recent rains that they have been running the water hard? Also wondering if anyone has been fishing that area lately and what they were catching? We were wanting to go up there and see if we couldn't catch any whites or walleyes.
shaker Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 I was there today early afternoon checked out below the dam and not much happening. The corps is running some water through the power house, went up on top and unloaded the boat and fished the weir and hit some points around the lower lake and not much happening there either. Did manage to catch a few small whites. Water temps were about 60 to 61 if the corps will ever open the flood gates and pull some serious water the fishing would get better I hope!
