wily Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 spider creek in a week for the whole fam damily... has anybody been? we're planning a striper trip with joe fargas on friday, and then maybe float from the dam back to spider creek on saturday. anybody have any hot tips??? thanks
rps Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Bubba's in Eureka for BBQ? Port Orleans for fancy dining? Seriously, enjoy. Let us know about the trip.
wily Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 will do. we don't do too much of that fancy dining when we're down there...mostly just fish and fried potatoes. the girls might go into town, but i doubt i do. probably the closest i'll get to civilization is the dam store. are you catching any fish above old beaver town? we've been known to put in at houseman's and go down. thanks
rps Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Last time I was out (a week ago), all I caught were small spots and LM. Short worms on light jig heads will keep you bit. I did not catch any size. My friends say trout will bite power bait. Walleye are hiding currently. Wish I had more to tell you. This weekend I will be grading in anticipation of quarter reports. Let us know what you find. BTW, the dam store tells the truth about the river.
wily Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 ya, it's a great store and i love the bumper stickers. "follow me to the dam store" we'll probably try the same old haunts...i'd sure like to get into the walleye. we never have down there. i guess it's mostly an early spring deal. i'll post a report when we get back...we always catch a few and have a great time. it's an undeveloped piece of the world...or so it seems

Debating about going this fall because the last three seasons weve been have been horrible fishing with the lakes flooded up into the white river. try using microjigs from the Dam Store under a bubble bobber,, always had lots of luck there and cant wait to come back let me no how the fishing is thanks
Zack Hoyt Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Fished below the Dam yesterday. The water us getting back to normla(IE, your not fishing in a bath tub). Quite a few nice fish. Leaves are just starting to change. Lots of wildlife roaming around. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
