DOITLOOKIT Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Checked my rain gauge here in South Springfield at 9:00 p.m. and it read 4.2 inches. That includes all rain today. Looking at the radar it is suppose to rain til 9 or 10 tomorrow.

MaxDrown Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 How will the rain effect the trout fishing on Sat? Specifically in Little Piney and Niangua? -- Max Drown
Wayne SW/MO Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Their watersheds got hit hard. I would expect the Niangua to be very high. I know its upper watershed got several inches. Its reported to be 10 feet high and rising, literally, at Windyville. The spring is at 3.5 feet, which is very high. Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
DOITLOOKIT Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Check my rain guage again this morning at 9:00 a.m. and the two day total came to 7.4 inches of rain in South Springfield near Lake Springfield.

Gavin Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 Check the guages http://waterdata.usgs.gov/mo/nwis/current/?type=flow The Niangua and LP are in flood, up 8ft or more.........your best bet right now is probably the Current..its only running at 3ft but still rising...I'd love to be out there right know fishing the rise. Cheers.

We have one with no waders, so need to be able to fish from shore, too. -- Max Drown
Gavin Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 There are lots of bank fishing options at Montauk State Park....but you could brush bust up from Tan Vat, or down from Baptist for aways w/o having to cross the river. Waders are kind of a must have if you really want to fish though, might see if you can rent a pair of waders up at Montauk State Park store or pick up a pair of cheapies at Wal-Mart. Cheers.
creek wader Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 I'd run to Wal-Mart. For around $25, you can get some hip waders. Chest waders aren't much more. They'd last you a couple yrs., or longer if you don't use them much. .. I just bought a pair of hip waders, just so I can get in and out of my yak without getting wet. Hate wearing chest waders, unless I'm actually wading. wader
