Brian Sloss Posted October 18, 2009 Posted October 18, 2009 We had a little smaller crowd this year, about 14, than the last two years, largely due to the weather amd higher water conditions. That being said, I don't think I talked to a single person who didn't catch at least a few trout and a few that got around a dozen. heavily weighted rigs were key and stoneflies, Don's crawdad, eggs and 16th oz jigs were what worked. On Thursday, I caught a 22inch trout on my 6wt with a white 1/16th oz jig, so even though they may be a pain to cast, they are effective in high water especially. No monsters caught on Sat though. The BBQ went well and we raised a fair amount of money for TU with the raffle. Thanks again to all those who came down. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497

I bet that put up a good fight in the high water.
Members vandelay Posted October 19, 2009 Members Posted October 19, 2009 Thanks Cat, Ryan and the entire 11 point canoe rental staff for the bbq, raffle and great day on the water. It was good seeing the St. Louis crew and Superfly and friends from Springfield again as well. We had a great time as always. Why do the Tigers always lose when we come down?!
superfly Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 As always the 11 Point Canoe Rental put on a first class event. I wish I could get a BBQ like that every time I came off the water. The apple dumplings and apple crisp were outstanding. Fishing is always GOOD! Cook better luck on that rod next year. It was good to see everyone until next time - FISH ON! Superfly
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted October 21, 2009 Root Admin Posted October 21, 2009 Marsha and I enjoyed the event. Thanks Ryan for the drift boat ride and Brian for taking us down to the river Sunday... did better Sunday afternoon that we did Saturday. I think the water cleared up a bit. Food was great. Hope to make it next year...
