If you all remember just a while back I broke both my Curado's on hook-sets jig fishing the Rock. The side plates both sheared off the side of the reel. Anyway, they went back in the mail to Shimano with a "polite" letter stating my dissapoint and the fact that I own about 8 total Shimano reels. Well, I got them back today. It took a little longer than I expected; about 15 days or so. However, there was no charge, they cleaned and serviced them and upgraded the sideplate/braking housing! How's that??? I have no complaints!, Now where's the fish on the Rock???

Cool! That's good to know. I'd say a two week turn-around on your reels is pretty darn fast considering the size of that company. I'd half expect to be without them for a couple months. Maybe I'll try sending one of my Stradics back for the binding problem and see if they'll just send me a new model! They'd sure be opening a can of worms with that move.

I once sent in a shimano spinning rod with a break in it about 10" from the tip. I nicely asked them to evaluate it for warranty and two weeks later I received a brand new Crucial in the mail. I certainly didn't send them a Crucial but I think that my model was discontinued or something like that. SHIMANO ROCKS !!!!

Yeah, but hundreds of thousands of guys have Stradics, and I'm sure many of them have had the binding problems. Of all those guys, I'm sure many of them tried to return reels. I'm not sure about this, but I would assume that Shimano quickly took the position that they won't be replacing all the reels that are returned. That would cost them millions of dollars and I have the feeling they aren't going for that. Might be worth a try, though. I haven't heard of anyone else who has.

Anyone else know?

I was wondering about your situation just the other day.

That is great news! B)

I had a feeling they would take good care of you. My faith in Shimano has been further reinforced after hearing that they did.
