Didn't want to hijack another thread but that thread reminded me of something.

I have always tried to show courtesy and common sense on the water. Some just don't think about it or just don't care...in most cases I hope it's just not thinking.

We were trolling on a flat about 4 or 5 acres give or take in water from the bank to 15 ft. deep.

Just trolling around slowly picking up a few whatever until dusk hoping for the shad to explode, you know what that means,

It was pretty far up the Pomme arm of the lake and if you don't have a map of the old river channel or are with somone that does or knows it a guy probably has no business being up that far...that lake has eaten many a lower unit

Guys that do run the channel up there use this particular flat to cut across and get back in the channel if they know it well..

We were just relaxed, kicked back trolling around in large circles playin that waitin game...only boat on the flat.

We heard this boat coming and he came cutting across the flat we were on. It was a big high power bass boat and he was letting er rip...bet he was running 60 anyway. He got so close to us when he went by us his boat snagged both our lines...he didn't even look our way but by the time we got our rods out of the holders he had almost spooled us just before our lines snapped and our rods almost broke.

We came close to losing our rod and reels...we both just couldn't turn him, lol...not really funny, at the moment we were giving him some choice words.

Unless his ears were burnin he never knew what he did...I mean it's not like Taney, Truman is plenty wide almost anywhere.

I guess I'm saying give other fisherman a little room if possible...plus I've got insomnia and gettin tired of talkin to myself, lol.

Highway, waterway, whatever...look out for the other guy...don't recall if he was on the phone or not, it was all just a blur, lol.

Definitely. This also applies on rivers. If people would make an attempt not to get in the way at least most of the time, fishing would be a lot more enjoyable.

Sorry to hear about that. That is why you always need to keep a rod rigged up with a good ounce or two of lead so you can send them a hello as they motor by.

There is too close, but there is also too slow. I know there is a mentality to slow down when passing an anchored boat, but when you take a boat from a plane to a draft you create big waves. Taney is a good example, its often better for a boat to stay on plane and give as much berth as possible than to come by close but slower.

I was fishing below the dam several years ago and a couple of guys in a bass boat would drift the center and then run north bank out about 25'. You had to pull your line out of the water and let them pass.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

That was my original thinking at the last Few "Kid's fishing derbys" they had on L.O., The newspapers and community organizations made a big huge deal (patting themselves on the back) about how many kids were being introduced to fishing, and what a great thing that was.

After watching the goings on for awhile, it occured to me that "introducing" the majority of those kids to MANNERS and SELF CONTROL might be the thing to do FIRST. ,,,,, and then teach them to fish. <_<

Do you know where Golden Beach Marina used to be, where that Yamaha sign is (was)? My uncle has a house on that cove and that's where I learned to fish. I'm just asking because I saw your place of business is in Gravois Mills. Got the chenille by the way. Thanks wrench!

Yep, he's pretty much right across the pond from me. Your Uncle and I shared a F2 tornado a couple years ago, did his house get wiped out too ? The roof off my old shop fell out of the sky within a 1/4 mile of his place.

Yeah I saw the damage from that tornado. The roof on his dock was mangled pretty badly, but the house just lost a few shingles. Some of his neighbors got it really bad though. That thing did some crazy stuff, and that was the first time I had seen any tornado aftermath in person. The power of those things is jawdropping.

Tell me about it..... My Daughter and I rode the MF'er out, under the kitchen table.

Wow. Yep, it was a nasty twister. You see it on TV all the time, but it's totally different when you see the damage up close in person. It's just unbelievable how powerful those things are. That must have scared the poo out of you.

I always hate to see pictures like that! A man can work his whole life for a little shack on a hill, and then Mother Nature can blow it all away in 5 seconds. Looked like a nice house too. Main thing is though both of you made it out alive and life continues. Life can be a short 8 second ride, sometimes you get up, and sometimes you don’t. Glad to see you made it. Not many men ride a tornado and live to tell about it.

Tell a thousand funny jokes and no one remembers!

Tell one bad one and no one forgets!

Hey Wrench,

Remember, you told me why that tornado tore you up so bad...strange things happen when you mess around with the unknown.

Hope you recall what I'm talkin.

Those pictures are downright sickening...you did good though, picked yourself up and hung in there.

I can't imagine....MAN !...thank God for kitchen tables, huh.
