So my father in law brought over a newspaper story the other day about smallie fishing in Marble creek, which feeds into the St. francis river, just outside of ironton. Anyway, said its a good stream to wade up and fly fish. So i think were gonna try it one of these days, just seeing if anyone else has done it

Been a long time since I fished it. It's rough wading. Lots of slick bedrock and slick boulders. Beautiful shut-ins area a couple miles below the Marble Creek campground. I wouldn't say it's a real destination type stream, but worth a shot if you're in the area.

i'll give it a shot. i usually just wade in those types of streams in sandals, unless its cold water. i have some sticky rubber soles on my simms boots and they seem to work pretty well. Guess come spring time when it warms back up i will give it a shot.

That is a pretty little creek. Floated it a couple times when it was in flood and the shut-ins were fun. Its pretty challenging in an open deck canoe. Won't be doing that again . . . almost drowned and then upon retreat, almost gored by a bull.

I almost bought the farm in that creek myself, years ago. It was flash flooding and I had a tube with me. So being the adrenalin junkie I was at the time, I jumped in with my tube! Shot the flash flooding creek until I was flipped out of the tube. I got my foot caught deep in some of the boulders, and was instantly pulled under. I was lucky to be able to pull myself free, I only had seconds with the force of the water rushing around me.
