brownieman Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I'll probably get chewed on but oh well, Was another thread awhile back on smallie arsenal I enjoyed. Thought trout flies, etc. would be interesting... some maybe a little unusual but none the less. Anyway, mine consists of a variety of balsa streamers, few big barrel swivels, pliers, net wouldn't fit in there, lol. Gotta be honest, I didn't make these but I have made my share. I pack pretty light. later on My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><
brownieman Posted November 6, 2009 Author Posted November 6, 2009 Ahh, that ugly SOB next to the pliers is the one that spanked my butt last February. Their teeth have torn most the paint off that one...must be a natural pattern, kinda scared to repaint it. If it aint broke, don't fix it, lol later on My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? ozark trout fisher Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Their teeth have torn most the paint off that one...must be a natural pattern, kinda scared to repaint it. If it aint broke, don't fix it, lol later on I'm just becoming more serious in the line of fly fishing for trout, and I fish small streams more than anywhere else, and the trout are hardly selective in those streams. So my fly box is ridiculously small, undiverse, and generally crappy right now. Here it goes, every single fly in my box. Nymphs (I have quite a few of each of these, pretty much all beadheads #14-#18 Gold Ribbed Hare's Ear Pheasant Tail Copper John Prince Nymph Streamers various sizes +colors Woolly buggers Various crawfish imitations Clouser Minnow Dries #12-16 Elk Hare Caddis #12-16 Royal Wulff #12-16 Adams (Honestly, I almost never fish dries) Other Glo-bugs (I have a whole bunch of those for trout parks and the Current River+spawning season just about anywhere San Juan Worms. My trout box for spin fishing is a lot more diverse. I have just about every kind of Mepp's, Rooster Tail, Panther Martin, Spin a Lure, Rapala, cleo, and kastmaster there is. I have to admit I don't have any great big plugs like Brownieman does anywhere near my trout box. Those look more like the lures I used to throw at pike a while back.
laker67 Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 I most likely carry the smallest assortment of flies of any flyfisherman on this forum. I have four basic sowbugs, one mayfly nymph, one egg pattern, and one barbell zonker. I carry 6 zonkers in the same color and 18 each of the sowbug, mayfly, and egg pattern. Over the years I have narrowed it down to these 7 flies to be my most productive, day in and day out, including night time. Trout eat the same things at night as they do in the daytime. The menu does not change.
Buzz Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Brownieman, I wanna fish where you throw that "Super Spook". I would never have guessed that bait would ever be used for trout. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

Well they maybe trout but compared to the little silver bullets I seem to specialize in. They seem to be large golden brown toothed logs. They seem to be large golden brown toothed logs. Yeah, I gotta say that some of those lures are bigger than the average wild trout I catch on some days. I just don't have the patience to throw big lures like that and just target the real trophies, while passing up all the 10 inchers... But then again that's why I almost never catch really large trout.

Wayne SW/MO Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Brownieman if you're going to call that a fly box you need to put a feather on at least one of those. Oh and the pliers don't count! Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.
bigredbirdfan Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Will someone post: 1) the line size and method for attachement for Brownieman's lures for trout 2) method for casting and retrieving these baits Thx BRBF
