Ämp Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 Took a trip with the woman to cape fair had the boat out for around 5 hrs starting around 8:30 am.. clear , windy , very low water clarity. Took 3 barley keepers around the adjacent gravel point and cove at the marina. 3-10 ft around rock or hard woods, or a combo of both. lipless crank bait was the only productive lure .. could not find a jig bite at all.Slow day in all but we did not try very hard. .

Never been their what it like, do i have a good chance of getting some cat. I bought a book for table rock but they dont show many boat ramps. Is their a boat ramp near the 173 bridge or is the closet one at the cape fair public use area.

Is their a boat ramp near the 173 bridge or is the closet one at the cape fair public use area. Put in at Bridgeport, where Hwy. 76 crosses the James River arm. Going west on 76, turn left into the driveway just before you cross the bridge. It's a free ramp, and from there Flat Creek is just around the first bend upstream. You're going to have to wait until springtime to do any good with a trotline, from about April on.
Members Fat Boy Posted November 25, 2009 Members Posted November 25, 2009 You can also put in at Flat Creek resort they have a ramp they let the public use, it sits right by the bridge on Hwy 173 you go into there parkinglot and it is down by there dock. I have a friend who sets lines this time of yr and kills them I don't know if he sits them deep or shallow or what, but he catches some darn good fish but I think he is closer to Pt 15 , this is where the James and Flat Crk come togeather. Good luck and don't overlook the James this time of yr, if you go the James I would put in at bridgeport ,
