I'm fairly new to fly fishing, but am very familiar with quality rods of other forms. As I entered the sport I started with a White River setup from BPS 8.5' 6wt 4 piece. The first one I owned would not stay together, and the replacement snapped the tip on the first trip out. I know other with those rods and they have no complaints, so it may have been an anomaly. BPS was very good about taking them back and exchanging them. So instead of grabbing another BPS rod and paying $20 for a 1yr unconditional warranty, I opted to put another $25 with my original credit and get the TFO Lefty Kreh Signature Series rod that comes with a lifetime no-fault unconditional warranty. This past weekend I put that to the test! After a long couple of great days on the Little Piney, we unloaded the car and went our seperate ways. About 1 hour later I realized that amongst all of my equipment, my rod and reel were missing. After a long search, I realized that it had been left on the top of my buddies car when he left. I went searching for it and found it down the street from my house. By then it had been run over a few times and was pretty flat. Needless to say I was very disappointed to keep the post clean. I remembered then that I had never filled out the registration for the rod. I looked up the sight on Saturday night and registered the rod over the web, and immediately sent them an email. This morning I contacted them by phone and talked to a lady and explained the whole story. She was VERY nice!! With every question I had about repair or replacement, she answered of course. I even jokingly asked her if she'd replace the reel to and she said "of course" until I explained that it wasn't one of theirs. She let me know that the have a 1 business day turn around, so depending on how fast I get it to them, I may have it back for the weekend. The policy is to send all of the rod pieces, $25 check, and a return address and they'll handle the rest. It is going out tomorrow morning with joy.

Not only do I really like the rod, but the warranty and the customer service are TOP NOTCH!! I highly recommend the company and plan to own more of there products in the future. Especially since my specific rod only cost less than $100 bucks!! You can't beat it in my opinion. I also own a St. Croix and love it too, but I'd gladly purchase another TFO in years to come. Most certainly as my kids get older and into the sport, I'm sure they'll be tough on the equipment so we'll check out the warranty again in the future.

Thanks for letting me bend your ear. Had to let everyone know about great experiences!

Tight Lines and good luck on the water.

I'm smitten with TFO everything pretty much.

(Though the highest end rods are a touch heavier than described.)

And the owner is heck of a nice guy!

You said it Brian... Rick Pope is one of the nicest guys you'll find in the fly fishing industry. Fun to be around and will bend over backwards to make customers happy. Knowing Rick, he might have sent to a TFO reel to replace yours...

Chad... Take a lesson from this, as I'm sure you have. TFO will treat you right...

Brian... Have you cast the new Clouser series?

I have a 5wt TFO rod also. Glad to hear that their customer service is so great. I haven't ran mine over yet :D but I'm glad to know that if I do I will get a replacement right away.

Bob Clouser was with St Croix, but got "disenchanted" and Rick put him on his team. Bob had full control of designing the rod and made it like he wanted. He also gave some very high kudos (no small feat to obtain from Bob Clouser) to the TFO engineers. He told me "they got it right" very quickly.

Now if I can just get Rick to make me a TFO pro... ;)

Between my wife, Lori, and I, we have a total of five TFOs. I use them as loaners for clients and they are put through some rough treatment. I have had to send several back and the experience was very positive. Rick Pope is one of the best in the industry.

Update!!

Got my rod back and it was a total replacement. Total time elapsed was 5 working days, and 3 of those was the shipping on MY end. This means that it took longer for me to get it to them than it did for me to get it back! Excellent service!! I have since bought a TFO reel to replace my damaged one. I have absolutely nothing but positive things to day about them. My wife is thinking about getting started, and I may get her a TFO casting for a cure (breast cancer) rod. She thinks it is "cute" because it has the pink accents on it. Whatever gets her involved works for me!!

Thanks for the replies everyone. I'm new to the forum and have had nothing but good feedback and friendly folks to hear from. Good to know that we've got friends out there.

I too am a fan of temple fork fly rods I have two of them a axiom 5wt and a signature series 6wt both are great rods and when

I left my rod in the truck and the dog jumped into it breaking it in half I almost lost it with three days to go before my fishing trip I hurried up and sent it in a had them send me the signature series on 2 day shipping It arrived on time for the trip and I was impressed it handled very nicely I was worried being that it cost half as much as the axiom but there was nothing I could find wrong with the rod roll cast were like a dream unfolding before my eyes I even had to let my friend use my rod for awhile and his reaction was I got to get one

he couldn't stand it that a rod that was three times less then his Orvis rod handled better he now wants one

and with the return of my rod in five days he was sold on the service and I am too great rods at a great price what could be better

I am interested in the clouser series rod in a 6wt since I am always chunking two weighted flies and split shot and a strike indicator

I think it sounds just perfect for me has anyone used this rod yet

also I would like to add the chronicle series to my collection thats a great looking rod and sounds perfect for me on other rivers as well as my home river

wish they would make a gold reel to go with it that be a great combo

my I add I used the 5wt in the landing of my biggest rainbow ever a 25 inch hog in fast current great fish great rod

something for you try is loading these rods with line 1wt over the rod wt if your gonna be fishing in the wind or need long roll cast

I done this because someone suggested it and now I'm roll casting 50 ft with ease great for those tight spots with lots of hang over like current river and the eleven point

temple fork will be receiving my money again soon
