Met Rick Pope at Feathercraft about 5-6 years ago during their Spring show....great guy. He sold me on the Signature Series 7'6" 3wt and I love the rod.....only complaint is that it is a 2pc rod. I wish I would have spent the extra $25-30 and got the 3-4 piece. While fishing in the Smokey Mountains, I somehow broke the tip and I sent it back to them with the $25 check and they replaced the whole rod. Then while camping, my daughter shut the door on it and once again, they replaced the whole rod. Excellent customer service and great turn around. I know own a 9' 8wt , 9' 6wt professional series and the 7'6" 3wt signature series. Great rods and a great company! ......by the way, I bought the 2 professional series rods from Phil Lilley's fly shop and I received excellent customer service from them as well!!

I have a 5WT, 9' TFO, 6 piece, handy for travel. Put it to the test last weekend on an unintentional steelhead in WA, did well, tippet didn't.

Glad to hear their service is superior. I bought a TFO 8' 2wt after a guide brought his for me to use on some small creeks and I love the thing. It took me a while to get used to it since all I've ever used was a 9' 5wt, but this rod difinitely has it's applications. I recently caught a 15" McCloud rainbow on Crane Creek with it and got a run for the money. It's very responsive and still had enough backbone for me to muscle that fish away from some rootballs, land it quickly, and release it before it got exhausted. We met the owner, several reps, and Lefty Kreh at the ISE in Denver last year and they are a great bucnh. Hope I never need their service but it's good to know it's there.

I am probably one of the biggest TFO fans there is. I have 19 of them from the 6'9" 1WT to the 13' 7/8WT Spey rod with all sizes in between. TFO is definitely a class operation and Rick Pope thinks of them as "one big happy family." They are involved in so many special projects from Project Healing Waters to Casting for Recovery to Reel Recovery. I can only imagine how many thousands of dollars TFO has donated to each of those projects with the $25 donation from each project rod sold. Even the Bug Launcher series that goes for $79.95 carries the $25 lifetime warranty. As far as customer service .. I was at my brother-in-law's cabin in the middle of nowhere in Wisconsin and broke a Pro 2WT. I got it in the mail on a Tuesday morning and I got back to Arkansas 4 days later. There was a notice in my P.O Box that the rod was waiting for me. Four days from Wisconson to Texas to Arkansas. Rick told me at a conclave that he demands a 1 day turn-around. He said he'll accept a 2 day but if it takes 3 days for a turn-around someone will be fired. That kind of service is tough to beat.

I went to buy batteries but they weren't included.

Wow, I thought I was bad with 7 rods. Admittedly, none are TFO but my next purchases are going to be a Teeny 9 or 10' 8wt, a Deer Creek 12' 6wt switch and probably a 9' 4wt Professional series. I fell in love with the rods when I was fishing with Jeremy Hunt and Ty Ingram. Compared to my Sage DS2 8 wt, the Teeny was a rocket launcher, and the price tag is unoffensive to say the least. I also was impressed by the Prism reels. The first fish I caught on a TFO setup was a 24" brown on the Teeny/Prism combo and the reel worked flawlessly.

In addition to the products, it sounds like they have an outstanding customer service program. I look forward to owning some of their rods.

Randall .. I wish .. sometimes .. it were only 19 rods. I have others including a beautifully built 7'9" bamboo rod built by Tony Spezio. My grandkids are going to inherit a fly shop I think.

Tony makes some gorgeous rods. Toby and I stopped in and chatted with him after Conclave this year.

Which TFO SPey rod do you have? I am very interested in learning the techniques and picking up a "long rod". Any thoughts?

Zach .. I have the 13' Deer Creek 7/8WT Spey. I'm really wanting to learn more about Spey techniques too. I can do a basic Spey cast but that's about as far as I've gotten. I have the 11' 5WT Pro switch rod and have caught some decent fish on it.

Dandall .. even my daughter-in-law wants in on this. The 3 grandkids have all "claimed" a couple rods for themselves already. My grand daughter is upset that she's the only one of the three to not catch a fish. It was interesting trying to explain to her why they call the fish like the one in my avatar a brown trout since it's not brown. She doesn't miss a thing.
