Brian K. Shaffer Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Can anyone make a valid point why Wainwright or Carpenter did not win Cy Young ? Lincecum won it last year... and yes, maybe he did pitch more innings... BUT COME ON......WHAT HAPPENED ??? Is the voting skewed to a bias I am not aware of ??? Maybe if Wainwright would have hit 20 wins.. he would have won it ?!?! If the bullpen hadnt imploded on his last start he would have won 20 and most likely the Cy Young. UGH! Brian Just once I wish a trout would wink at me! ozarkflyfisher@gmail.com I'm the guy wearing the same Simms longbilled hat for 10 years now.
eric1978 Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Mostly politics. Lincecum started 4 more games and pitched 37 more innings than Carpenter, but Carpenter had a better ERA and better W/L record, which is what I would vote on. Lincecum had a lot more Ks, though, and people like Ks, just like they like homers.
Don Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Because Carp or Wainwright did not have any weed to bribe the voters? I thing if the Cards would have advanced in the playoffs, The K leader would have been bumped off the top of the vote. At least Wainwright got the golden glove. Thank God Maddox is gone. All three were good but I, like Eric, think ERA means more than K's. Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
eric1978 Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Thank God Maddox is gone. That little guy was unbelievable. Love the signature, Don. Do the chickens have large talons? Nevermind.
KCRIVERRAT Posted November 20, 2009 Posted November 20, 2009 Should've been a Missouri sweep. Wainwright got my vote. Grienke rules though... his stuff is nasty. HUMAN RELATIONS MANAGER @ OZARK FISHING EXPEDITIONS
