Boating Hazards

Just curious if the recent rains has caused any boating hazards in the White River area, between Big M and Campbell pt area's. Has anyone been in these area's and know if there are floating logs, debris, etc that is hazardous?

Will be in that area on the morrow and let you know. Shouldn't be any problem from Big M to the Kings river. I would guess there would be some trash around the Shell Knob Bridge. Thats about as far as it usually gets as most piles up on Momosa beach up the kings. I'll be really accurate tomorrow.

Went out of Baxter yesterday and there was about a 10x10 ft section of dock floating out in the main channel. Don't know what happened to it. Also saw a lot of small limbs and debris but nothing else large and hazardous around that area.

I went out of Baxter this morning myself, no big problems all the way to and past shell knob bridge.. There was some small floating branches but nothing really big.. Great day of fishing up there, really good bite going on..

Thanks for the info Don, and I look forward to Bill's info as well. Is there any chance Don and Bill can drop a few hints as to what I should do this weekend while fishing a small club tourney in the Big M and Shell Knob area? I ususally struggle badly on Table Rock and would certainly like to make a good showing this weekend. I know it is a great fishery, it just hasnt been very kind to me. Thanks again for the info! I would not be as concerned about the stuff you can see floating. We can't forget about all those trees that were sticking out of the water five or six feet a month ago. They will be just under the water now. And with the dirtier water, they will be invisible.

So be careful about running hard into somewhere you don't know. Always wear your life jacket and kill switch.

I was running down upper Bull Shoals once, a couple of days after a heavy rain. I know that area real well, and I was in the middle of the channel running wide open.

I missed, by just a few feet, running over a spot in the water that looked funny - so I circled around to see what it was. It was a big ROUND BALE OF HAY, floating with just the top of it at the surface of the water. There's no way anyone could have seen that, and my missing it was just luck.

If I'd run over it, the boat would have jumped clear out of the water and I probably would have been thrown out - so I got lucky. Even in deep water you know well and where you can't see anything floating, be careful. You can't be sure what's out there.

Just wondering if anyone has been on the Kings lately and if it has a lot of trash floating on it. Thanks in advance for the info.

Fished the King this past Sat and Sun. Debris can be found from Lost Hill, pass the Viola Public Use Area, and really bad near Sweetwater Creek. It continues all the way up the river. I went as far as Jackie Hollow. Jigging laydowns was the only good pattern I was able to put together. Better yet, go to clear water on a cloudy day and throw Zara Spooks on pea gravel points.
