ozark trout fisher Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Is the park store open during the winter? I'm headed down tomorrow, and I need some flies. If not, is there any place to get flies along the way? I know there aren't any fly shops, but all I need is a few Hare's Ear Nymphs and Woollys, nothing fancy, and I figure a normal tackle shop might carry those.
Randall Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I've never seen the park store open during winter. I would stop in Cuba at Glen's Taxidermy. I don't know if he has a fly selection but it's possible. If nothing else, he's a hell of a nice guy and could probably tell you where to go. I think the Cuba Wal-Mart may have a fly selection as well. I saw that they were selling pro-shop quality nymphs and bucktails in the sporting goods department a few years ago. Meramec Package Liquor (the one by the Casey's) is also a possibility but I don't think they have a fly selection. Cute animals taste better.
Bman Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Is the park store open during the winter? Nope. They don't carry the flies you mentioned when they are open during the normal season. The only good line is a tight line
ozark trout fisher Posted December 20, 2009 Author Posted December 20, 2009 Thanks guys. I wasn't able to find a fly shop, but I was able to scrounge up enough nymphs and eggs to have a pretty good day of it.

Seth Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 DJ's and the gas station right before you head out of town towards the park has trout tackle I know. I'm not sure how big of a supply they keep during the off season but I'm sure they have enough to atleast get you by.
