strangercreek Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I just bought one of these for a 5wt, trying to buy a U.S. made piece of gear once in a while (not always possible for me due to price)but this is a domestic reel in the $100 range. Not the best refinement but a really decent drag, good fit/tolerances and unique anodized/powder coated finish. They have some higher end models but this model is cast, not machined. I am anxious to use it. The "platinum" is actually a wierd "off white" color I have never seen on a reel before. It also comes with a reel pouch and lifetime warranty. There is a seller on Ebay called theflyfishingshop sells them for $80. I think MSRP is $115. http://www.outdoorreview.com/cat/flyfishing-equipment/reels/fly-logic/PRD_60293_1392crx.aspx www.flylogic.com
Greg Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I've got an older machined fly logic reel. I don't care for mine too much. It's certainly not a bad reel I just have others I like better. In the winter (in really cold weather) the drag tightens up some and isn't as smooth as it is in warmer weather. Also once when I took the spool off a leaf spring on the drag went flying and I never could find it. The company did send another free of charge. Mine is a pretty thing though. It's kind of a marbled green and black color with a green wood handle. Anyway maybe they've improved them. I hope you enjoy yours. Brian K. Shaffer Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 My opinion is not good on F/L reels. I would buy something with a better (and longer) track record. Members bowfin47 Posted February 4, 2010 Members Posted February 4, 2010 As I remember that "wierd 'off white' color" IS a color that you have seen before... just not on a reel! It is the "bullet proof" paint that is used on computer cases.
