Members knuck Posted December 23, 2009 Members Posted December 23, 2009 Hello to all, Looking for any & all suggestions to a solution for an in-dash sonar need. Currently have a Hummingbird LCR-W that came with my boat that shot craps. Does anyone know if there is a current Humminbird compatible with with the glassed in transducer the original came with? Is it a bad idea to re-use a transducer? I recently installed a Lowrance X-135 with a transom mounted skimmer transducer which is NMEA compatible. It might be cool to have both the in-dash and front graph networked using the same transducer but I can not seem to find an economically priced in-dash unit. Any ideas or links to sites that may have in depth information would be appreciated, I can't seem to gather much good info from the Lowrance or Hummingbird sites. Thanks, Steve in STL
Dutch Posted December 23, 2009 Posted December 23, 2009 I don't believe there is any way to use Low and Bird together. On my boat I had an indash that I took out and put a plate over the hole and mounted an external unit.
Members knuck Posted December 24, 2009 Author Members Posted December 24, 2009 Thanks for the reply, actually I was exploring the idea of going back to a Hummingbird in the dash and reusing the existing transducer or simply going over to all Lowrance and networking. Steve in STL
Dutch Posted December 24, 2009 Posted December 24, 2009 If the Birds are like the Lows the connections change so often that it is hard to reuse a transducer if it has any age on it. I'v had to knock several out and put new ones in so I could upgrade.
