Just a topic of interest - B.A.S.S. pro Kevin Short did the popular "Day on the lake" in the Jan '10 issue of BassMaster - and tore em up with a handpainted norman jerkbait - he calls it "Ghost Table Rock Shad". It has "a purple back, translucent chartreuse sides, and a red throat".

Short had a 'day on the lake' series best day with is top 5 fish being 28lbs, 10oz. Thinking about handpainting some jerkbaits, though I only fished the Rock once last year...

Incidentally, the Jan '10 issue also had an article about the new world record largemouth out of Japan. A good read, if you get the chance.

But of course had to go to the 'Day on the Lake' section to see. I'm very intrigued with that color, very cool! I just started painting my own lures and am completely addicted! That looks like a great color! :D

Almost every lure maker is offering some kind of color scheme close to that these days, some are even calling it Table Rock something or other.

"Table Rock Shad"

It's strange, I almost always do better on the Blue Back/Orange Belly/ Silver Side color than the Chartreuse/Purple thing.

Just last night I came across what I think is a great article on lure colors. It deals with how fish see colors, and how colors are changed by different depths and clarity of water. I've read this about three times now, and I'm sure going to keep the information in mind when I'm making or buying lures.
