I guess when you make enough noise, someone will hear you. My hat off to you, Lilly. You've done a swell job with this website. Kudos to Al, too. He's a great advocate for the anglers. Also, all you guys out there that have been beating these threads to death. Maybe, the MDC will use some of the anglers' input. Job well done. ...wader

That is a pretty good article. I wonder why there have been "0" comments made directly to it. I think it would be a good thing for some of us to get on that.

Something I've been wondering about also, how many Missourians ( and non-Missourians ) get the monthly MDC publication in the mail????? I know I have for many many years. Wouldn't that be a good way to poll people? Either by internet, via the MDC site, and with a mail in option. To heck with the person to person polls which will only get a fraction of the people state wide. I'm sure it would be a much cheaper and more realistic poll.

Just my thoughts on the subject. I hope some good comes of it.

If fishing was easy it would be called catching.

My guess on polls... consistency is the key in collecting information. They have been using creel people for years - for better or worse, it's the same way every time. They could start a new way of doing it but it would take many years to develop the consistency they have now.

You're right though... there's better ways for sure.

Just a guess. There might be people here that do this thing for a living and could speak to it better than me.

Thanks for the compliment... but this forum is nothing without the members who post here.

I can't think of a better way to obtain the most accurate information of what an anglers thoughts are about a particular waterway than asking them as they are coming off the water with the trip fresh in their mind.

I do think the questions have to be carefully worded to get the best accuracy.

Chief and others...see my comments in the enforcement thread about what I think of the surveys. While they may or may not be asking good questions and getting good answers, I don't think they are really asking all the right people.

Ideally, yes that would probably be the best way to conduct a survey. But since floating and fishing around here for 30 years, I have yet to be asked anything other than "Can I see your fishing license?" So I guess I'll just wait out the next 30 years and see if I get the chance to answer a poll?

My point is, if they can't put enough agents on the water to enforce the laws they surely can't put enough people out there to get an accurate poll. Pretty much as Al posted in the "ENFORCEMENT" thread.
