Hopper Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Did not have to work today so I decided to hit the river before the weather got really bad. It was a good decision, due to the generation lately and the reduced pressure the fish are fat and healthy. Fished two midges under high vis dry fly, midges were #18 copper bead head and brown midge tube and #20 copper primrose and pearl lots of fish. Gregg The gods do not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing.
Buzz Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Nice fish. I think FAT is an understatement. Thanks for the pics. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
eric1978 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Holy cow. You sure you didn't catch the first and last ones out of a koi pond? Good lord those things are pigs.
OKFlyFisher44 Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Good lord! Those fish are eating good! I can't wait to get back down there. Right now, I'm wrapped up with duck hunting full-time. Once duck season is over, its game on! I miss fishing really really bad...but I sure do love to shoot ducks! Chance ...I'm haunted in my dreams of waters I have yet to fish and trout I have yet to catch... Chasing the Dream...
DaddyO Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Gregg, Those are pigs! Good Job. Were you fishing the Watts area? DaddyO We all make decisions; but, in the end, our decisions make us.
Hopper Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 Gregg, Those are pigs! Good Job. Were you fishing the Watts area? Hey Phil, Fished between the dam and the cable and the run right below the cable. Gregg The gods do not deduct from man's allotted span the hours spent in fishing.
Danimal Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I fished the Watts area Christmas eve and saw lots of dead shad scattered around on the gravel just below the high-water line. Looks like the trout are cashing in on them. Dan-o RELEASE THOSE BROWNIES!!
BFTMASTER Posted January 11, 2010 Posted January 11, 2010 Fished Dam area today. Very cold, hardly any fish until after about 2hrs. post generation. Shad kill was huge. I think the fish had plenty to eat with having to move. Stocker size was the rule today, no nicer fish. Bright colors, or anything different than shad colored patterns was the only way to go. Orange, pink and yellow. Not one bite on anything shad looking. might be tricky fishing until the kill slows down. Should see some nicer fish in the couple of months.
