What's everybodies favorite Zebra Midge size and pattern for Taney? Mine's sz. 18, tungsten beadhead, black with siver wire wrap.

Lately, I have had pretty good success using one called rusty zebra. It is tied with rusty brown thread, black bead, and black wire.

That's a somewhat impossible question. I will say the combo I use most often is size 16, black thread, copper wire, copper tungsten bead. I usually use zebra midges as weight in a 2 fly rig, so fish caught on them are usually bonus fish.

here's a list of all of the colors i use

black, olive & green(there's a difference), red, burgundy, yellow, brown, white

I also use about 10 different colors of wire.

Rusty came in the shop yesterday and showed us a zebra #18 with a flash body, copper bead head and x-sm copper wire wrap. That could be a Primrose and Pearl Zebra. He bought it at River Run but I'm sure we'll have some in our shop very soon. He said it was the best fly of the trip. It looked great.

Copper Dunn - copper bead and wrap with a dunn thread body? I've seen real small midge larva - dunn color.

Ugly- you got me.

Rusty - ask Rusty. It could be his Pearl Zebra. :)

Phil, Primrose & Pearl midge was the name. With all the heat yesterday, things were a little fuzzy to me. It may take some time, but I can eventially remember.:lol:

That ugly zebra may be the one phil talked about in his newsletter this month.

Green thread, black bead, black wire, brown throat...that is what the picture looks like on that site of Gary's flies in the above url. Although I think Phil said the green one was tied with green wire..Dano
