Zack Hoyt Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Interested as well. I have to go get a new tire for the drift boat trailer on Friday and may spend the morning fishing. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
timsfly Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Lots of fish in the river, fished a few hrs yesterday, landed 24, sunday landed 20 in about the same time period, fri and sat fished a bit, but it was bitter cold, but still caught several every morning. Still some nice fish in the river, caught a 6lb rainbow on sat. morning. egg patterns, zebra midges, copper johns, are good right now, still catching a few on drys almost everyday, adams, blue wing olives, caddis, cracklebacks, and griffiths gnats are doing best for me, #16's and smaller on drys and nymphs. Members osuangler Posted January 24, 2010 Members Posted January 24, 2010 Just returned from a realy relaxing and successful fishing trip to the river. Had a chance to fish with good friends and family. Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy. God Bless! Members Adam B Posted January 27, 2010 Members Posted January 27, 2010 I was planning on taking my first fishing trip to the Roaring River last weekend but couldn't make it, how do you think it will be this coming Sunday? I know it is going to be super cold but I'd like to try it. The shop and everything will still be open won't it? Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks, Adam
Buzz Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Believe me, those fish won't be bothered by the cold near as much as you. If you can get down there you can catch fish. Some of my best days have been on some of the coldest days. The worst thing for me has always been dealing with the line guides freezing up. Just fish close to your vehicle so you can warm up when you need to. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
Members Adam B Posted January 27, 2010 Members Posted January 27, 2010 Thanks man. The park office will be open on Sunday correct? And they said that place doesn't sell the license so is anywhere close that does if I am coming from Beaver lake area? Any Particular flies you like up there? Thanks again for the quick response! Gotta love you guys.
Zack Hoyt Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Weather may be an issue. The hill into RR is a bit steep and winding. I would check here with Tim on Friday to see how road conditions are. I fished a few times this year with snow on the ground. As long as you dress well, you will be in good shape. Drop me a pm if you plan on going. I may try to sneak up there for a few hours. Buzz Posted January 28, 2010 Posted January 28, 2010 I know you can get the licenses you need at the Cassville Wally-World. Anything else you should get from Tim's Flyshop. As far as flies, I like Zebra midges, chamois worms, egg patterns. If your'e into bigger bugs, woolies, mohair leeches, and bunny bugs can get the attention of some big fish. A few posts back Tim said that they take pretty good care of the big hill going down to the park. Like Zack said, you should get in touch with Tim on Friday to find out what the weather did down there. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
