So on the one on the left.....are those fish between 30-60 feet? It looks like fish on the colored graph but in real time it is harder to tell. Must take a bit to get used to reading them!

Those pictures are cool. What is the gate looking thing on the picture that is in 38' of water. Is picture in 91.6' of water, the downscan?

Those things look great once you learn how read the information that you are viewing.

Great shots, redbud! Can I ask what settings you have for the DI and SI on your 997? I have the new DI on my 798, but I can't get much good detail out of it so far. My 997 should be back today, so am looking forward to seeing if DI works better on it. So getting your settings would give me a head start!

Thanks in advance!

I was wondering the same thing jeb. The pictures on my 797 are cool, but nothing like the bigger models. I am sure the the DI will be cool, but not sure I will get the pictures that Redbud is getting.

Would like to see some 797/798 pictures if any one has them. DI or SI

38 feet of water is the bridge abutment at shell knob on south end .you can clearly see a rock pile at the end of it .I know a lot of guys catch fish here. I guess most of my settings are right about midrange.I think boat speed is important to detail . my boat idles at 3mph +or-. I also had to fine tune the placement of the transducer,so the unit would shoot clear of the motor to both sides.I like the triple screen because you can compare the soundings for a much better idea of what is really down there. The side scan will show you if the fish you spot are to the left of right. The downscan and regular sonar work well together .In open water you can easily see large arches, compare to the down and side views and you can get a pretty good idea of which side of the boat they are on. The Free download was way more than I expected , it is very helpful. The SI enhance helps with detail also .All that said I couldnt be happier with the 997.Make sure you get a SD card so you can record and go back later and look for structure that you never knew was there, make waypoints and check them next time you go out. This thing has been a big help for deep water fishing in winter and summer. Caught all my fish today on countdowns all k's with four good keepers.Hope this helps,Good luck out there.
