timsfly Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 Catching fish on Crane, had a good day, caught this one with the cam going, didn't catch a bunch but saw some real hogs today, broke a rod and lost a pair of forceps, it was the perfect day. timsfly Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 fiesty little thing!! i need to try and fish that this year i think. or atleast one of the trout areas I see you are in the St. Louis area, give mill creek a try, it has the same strain of trout in it that crane does(McLoud river trout) I've had some good days on mill creek, it is just far enough away that I only get up there maybe 2 or 3 times a year, last year I made it up there only twice. XP 590 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Great video, I've only fished Crane once and loved it. How was the water flow? What area were you fishing--if you don't mind? Also, did you see any redds or spawning activity? I can't wait to get back there. Thanks Dave
timsfly Posted January 13, 2010 Author Posted January 13, 2010 Flow is good, not high, did not see a spawning fish or any beds, I would say the spawn has come and gone on Crane this year, I seen plenty of fish of spawning size and they are all holding in deeper water now. I was fishing above town, I'm going below town today or tomorrow. Tim Homesley 23387 st. hwy 112 Cassville, Mo 65625 Roaring River State park Tim's Fly Shop www.missouritrout.com/timsflyshop
Members trout_bum Posted January 15, 2010 Members Posted January 15, 2010 Great video Tim. I'm interested what you used to shoot the video and where you got it. I will be down this weekend. I recently talked to one of our customers where I work who was down in Crane a little over a month ago clearing out all the brush that got pushed up against the railroad bridge just below town. It looks like he will be down that way again in the near future to clear out all the brush from the bridge just above town as well. I told him he'd better not tear up the creek too bad or else I wouldn't wait on him any more. Corey Dodson "Trout everywhere tremble at the mention of my name."
