Rules are single hook flies, does not say how many. Most on here will say yes, I tend to disagree, the rule is fuzzy enough to get a ticket. Corner an agent in the park and ask his opinion on the interpretation of the law.

Single hook rule was made to prevent excess damage during the catch and release phase. Even 2 single points could cause less damage than a treble jammed into a fish's jaws with 3 points.

Thanks. I'll see if I can find someone to ask... Otherwise I'll just stick to one fly.

I have a feeling the fishing might be kinda slow today, but we'll see.

It's legal at BSSP and RRSP. PC

I tend to agree with jd. If at Bennet and Roaring, where the same regs are applied, droppers are legal, it may be that droppers do not legally add a second hook point. On the other hand, it may be that the agents at those parks interpret the law that way and agents elsewhere may not. Let us know what the agent says.

Cute animals taste better.

I didn't get to talk to an agent... I ended up down at the river anyway where droppers are for sure legal. I'll try to figure it out next time I go. I've always wondered about this, but I've always been unsure enough that I've just stuck to one fly.

I believe that droppers are legal in all the trout parks. Here's a thread that Tim Homesley responded to re: RRSP and droppers.

I believe that the Weaver's website at one time had the official rule posted re: BBSP.

Personal Experience: A few years ago, a good ole boy at BSSP told me I was fishing illegally (I was using a dropper in Zone 1). Said he was gonna turn me in ... i said go for it. Anyway, about an hour later an agent came up to me with this ole boy in tow. The agent looked over my rig and turned to the ole boy and said everything was legal. You should have seen the look on that guy's face .... priceless. I got no apology from that guy .... typical trout park behavior. PC

PC,

A saw an agent two years ago at BSSP in zone 2 check the guy next to me. Hewas told that a person reported him using an illegal setup. The agent did nothing to him. That guy then turned to me and said "I wonder why you didn't get checked, I'm only runnig two flies and you (that would be me) are running 3 fleis at a time".

OTF,

I always running two flies at Maramec Springs.

I actually asked an agent a few years back down at montauk and he told me that you could use as many droppers as you wanted up to 33 or something along those lines. I cant say that would stand for anywhere else...

I received the same answer when I inquired about this subject years ago. The only stipulation is the hooks need to be a minimum of 6 inches apart to be considered a separate fly. If you follow this rule, you should be ok.
