hey I am fishing a tourney of feb the 20th out of the bull shoals boat dock anyone have any tips for that time of year. I havent fished bull shoals much this early but the few times I have I caught them pretty good on a jerk bait and grub. Any advice on where to start and what you have had success on would be a great help. Thanks so much, shoot me a PM if you don't mind.

MWG, you've been down at this latitude long enough to know that if they don't mention a species, it's bass. In fact, if you catch some bass, you don't even have to call them bass--just say "fish." The assumption is that everybody will know what you're talking about.

Are you going blind or prefishing some? If you don't know the water down there, get a map and look at some of the feeder creeks. If we keep getting wet stuff from the clouds, creek water could be warmer and a little more off color than that gin water down on that end.

Are you planning on fishing the upper? I think your chances would be better in the lower section, more "fish" there.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

green carp, trash fish, those annoying fish, bass have all sorts of names. If it doesn't have teeth why talk about it. Right PD.

Only when I'm fishin' and can't keep them off the hook. Otherwise, they're okay. They keep the riffraff out of my trolling path.

Just kidding. There's no doubting that this is bass country, though.

Hey Ryan, to get back on topic, a friend caught a pair of 20"+ walleyes on Saturday, plus a big smallie and several more bass of both descriptions, pitching stickbaits and jigs/plastic at the bank between Powersite and Barker. All released to fight again. The eyes hit only when the water was running, bass didn't care...

Powersite would be a good place to start, if I haven't caught eyes there, I've caught real good smallies.
