zipstick Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 It's kind of neat to see so many guys from the Ozarks region fioshing the FLW bass tour this year. I counted at least 24 who hail in or near the Ozarks out of the field of roughly 150 anglers who will begin their season at the Red River this month. For those interested, it's also fun to play the free fantasy fishing game even though the prizes have been significantly reduced. I wonder what opinions the members have on pro bass fishing? Having fished with some of these guys in the past, I can assure you that many of these fellows are fishing machines. I also would enjoy stories from members about tournament fishing experiences. And last, the FLW tour is cominmg to Table Rock in March. Any comments?
RSBreth Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 I would be fishing the co-angler side of the Table Rock FLW Tour event if both scheduling and budget concerns weren't getting in the way of it. I've fished the FLW BFL events before and really enjoyed them. Most of the guys are just really great and helpful.
techo Posted February 6, 2010 Posted February 6, 2010 Don't have time for the fantasy stuff, but FLW was in town last year too. The final weigh out was fun and you had the chance to learn about the competitors and their famiy a bit. Highly recommend making it down to the booths and weighouts. I guess I lean more toward BASS, but I read the FLW stuff too. For tournaments....I really enjoy supporting the local ones. I am not near good enough to compete with the big sticks anyway. I can hardly compete with the locals. I really enjoy Anglers in Action. I also have fished Heartlands and they are pretty well run too. I know Eric is running CPA and he is a big supporter and promoter of fishing in general so I have no doubt they are well run too. There are a ton of local charity tournaments that are really fun to do. You usually win something....even if it is small and it is great fun visiting with the local famous fisher people who show up. Heck I even saw Webb get out of his pickup one time (three years ago) at a Cops for Kids tournament and visit with people. I am glad we are well represented in FLW by our fellow Ozarkians. I feel we have the best people in the World right here. Maybe someday I will be good enough to help represent us for FLW or BASS. Tim Carpenter
Members Bassman755 Posted February 11, 2010 Members Posted February 11, 2010 I play the fantasy fishing. I think its awesome. I fish the BFL and have plans on fishing the bassmaster weekend series next year in hopes to start my ascent in the world of fishing. I'm hardcore when it comes to fishing as long as I have the cash to feed my addiction. I'm sure you all know what I mean. I too hope that one day I can represent the ozarks in a good way with my fishing skills.
Members Badpuma Posted February 11, 2010 Members Posted February 11, 2010 If you want a tournament for fun and a good cause May 8th cystic fibroisis tournament on lake northfork. They give alot of money each year for the kids. They give alot of door prises from some great companies so if your weekend is open try to make it.
