ozark trout fisher Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 I'll be headed down to Crane in a couple of weeks... This is a stream I've been wanting to fish for a long time, and it finally looks like it's gonna work out. If you don't mind saying, would you guys reccomend the upper or lower Wire Road access? I know I'll you need to be stealthy down there, but I get the since the fish aren't too selective so long as you don't scare them first. Is that about right? Thanks for any help!
timsfly Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 yep that is about it, be quite, walk softly, carry a short stick with a big fly on the end of it. #8 beadheads work great for me, but you can catch em on smaller stuff, I use a lot of 1/32nd and 1/64th ounce marabou or woolybugger jigs, sometimes you need to get down quick, if you are comming in a few weeks, if the water is down and the day is nice, a stimulater will bring them to the surface, or a #12 or #14 caddis will work. Members Pflugradt Posted February 20, 2010 Members Posted February 20, 2010 Elk hair, tent wing, anything particular on the caddis pattern??? Steve Check out my warm water flytying and flyfishing how to.
timsfly Posted February 20, 2010 Posted February 20, 2010 what ever pattern you have with you, if you fish it correctly will bring Crane creek trout to the surface, if they are taking surface flies They arn't very selective, usually.
