Tightline
My son has been chasing a huge school of whites for weeks now.Last tuesday, him and a buddy caught their limits with 17 crappie thrown in. Well I decided to go with him last saturday,we put in at Bridgeport and went down and of course the whites were gone. We finally found some upstream from where he caught them, but this was not the huge school he'd been catching out of. We managed 14 whites and 2 crappie before I had to leave. I think there are some big schools already moving up,not shallow, just further up the lake. When they finally get to Ashers and above we are all gonna have some fun. Jason Essary
Tightline, Just heard today, fishing pal of mine lives at McCord Bend. They caught 14 this weekend on saturday and had some friends catch some sunday. He heard there were boats at Blunks catching them fast for awhile across from the ramp. Some are already up the river, they are just waiting for a few degrees to move up and feed. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 23, 2010 Root Admin Share Posted February 23, 2010 Is this strange? It's way early to see whites up this far in James, isn't it? Water temp is ?
Jason Essary
there is always some earlies. and with the numbers of tiny dinks last year, they have to be somewhere. dont know the temp, figure it around 45. Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted February 23, 2010 Root Admin Share Posted February 23, 2010 I bet it's more like 40 or less. It's much colder this year compared to last. I think.

Tightline
I have never caught whites at the Blunk hole in February, but there were so many of the little dinks last year I'll bet they are strung out from Capefair to Galena. Its cool to watch my sons graph go completely black for several minutes as a school of whites goes under the boat. Its only going to get better from here on out!! timsfly
I had a customer in the shop yesterday, that told me he and a few friends all limited out on whites way up Roaring River fishing from the bank, last sunday. Said they were hitting very well while they were there, all were of good size. They were catching them on sassy shads in white and chartruse on 1/8th ounce round jig heads. Springs a comming.
