I spent the morning looking at places to have meeting and the best that I could do was to get the Nature Center In Springfield, Mo. for The 1st Thursday of the month beginning in April. They are not open or are unavailable other nights.

So our first meeting will be April 1, 2010 6:30pm until 9:00pm at the Springfield Nature Center, 4600 S, Chrisman, Springfield, Mo in the Auditorium should have plenty of room so come on out and see what we are all about and lets get this Chapter off the ground and rolling. We will meet at this place the first Thursday of each month clear through December so I don't have to worry about a place to meet. I will try looking for another place later perhaps Bass Pro Shop after they get the renovations done.

Gary,

Great work! I know we've had to supply the MDC with information about our group when we've reserved the use of meeting rooms in other MDC Nature Centers so if you need that, let me know and we'll get it to you. Guys, Gary's cleared the first hurdle for the SWMO Chapter. If other people join who might live futher west of Springfield and don't want to drive all that far there's no reason for those members not to meet someplace more geographically convenient. You can be the SW of the SWMO Chapter or something to that effect. Anyway, my point is, if you live in Joplin or Neosho or someplace in between there and Springfield and you want to meet with other anglers in your town, please do so. I'm sure some of the members in the Springfield metro area might join you some time and vice-versa.

I need that material for myself and so I can learn about what you have done and what you would like to do so I can tell our new members what the MSA is all about. If we get some long drive members that want to meet out that way somewhere that is cool. Set something up and have some meetings if it isn't the first Thursday of the month I will try to come out also. Depending on how busy I am and if I am in town of course.

Gary sounds like you have everything under control, nice job. I will be there April 1st (and I'll still give you a shout about breakfast next week).

Chief, I don't see the problem with having the meetings in Springfield. :P

But if we had enough interest in your area then we could have monthly meetings in both places but meet once a quarter as a complete group at a place in between or take turns making the full trip. (That was a very long sentence!!)

It would be nice to also make the drive to St. Louis at some point and TAKE OVER...er......I mean meet with the other members.

I am making the drive to the St. Louis area on March 13, 2010 for the MSA's Bronzeback Bash being held in Kirkland, Mo. at the Viking Conference Center 10709 Watson Rd. The cost of this is $30.00 and hopefully some of you guys can still get in. I have room in the big Dodge Ram if anyone wants to go and can still get on the list. They only have room for 100. Contact Steve Harrison at srharrison@charter.net. If he has room so do I.

That was why I suggested Monett. It is only about a 30 minute drive for anyone. Neosho, Joplin, Carthage, Springfield, Nixa, Repbulic,... Towns that are closer, Mt. Vernon, Crane, Aurora, P. City, Jenkins, Cassville,.....

I just have a couple of personal principles holding me back at the moment.

BTW, is every new member issued a box cutter?

Sounds great Gary, good job. I hope I can get my business out of the way in time to make the May meeting.

Matt, I might be able to make the "bash", I'll be in STL at that time.

Today's release is tomorrows gift to another fisherman.

You have a good man in Gary. The only thing I'd warn you about is that he is a black cloud weather wise. Illinois farmers called him Ole Drought Buster.

what a long strange trip it's been , put a dip in your hip, a glide in your stride and come on to the mother ship , the learning never ends

Sounds like you guys are headed in a positive direction, I wish you the best of luck. I'm planning on contributing monetarily once I have the funds, if there's anything else I can do from 4 hours away, please let me know!
