Members applejack Posted July 5, 2010 Members Posted July 5, 2010 I have my eyes on a 10 old town vapor xt kayak, but i am looking at the ascend brand bass pro carries, just wondering if anyone has any experience with them. I am looking for a combination of speed, stability and room for fishing. I was set on old town's vapor but then when I went to bass pro I saw these ascends and decided to find out about them before I bought.
Members applejack Posted July 5, 2010 Members Posted July 5, 2010 I recently bought an ascend A10. luv it. great price and handles real well
John Andrews Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 First of all I am 50 years old and a first time kayak owner. I bought the ascend fs10. tracking is NOT an issue. I can paddle it with little efffort. When I "coast" it holds a straight line. I can store enough gear to bass fish and fly fish, with room to spare. It's easy to load and carry. (even with a bum shoulder) My first day out, I was in it for over 6 hrs. The seat was very comfortable. I know I am "new" to this hobby, but I love this little thing. Heck, my buddy who is a kayak veteran, said "this thing is awesome" You'll find me every weekend, out reeling in the fish I could only dream about getting to before!
John Andrews Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Oh I forgot to mention. I have custom fever, I will be posting pics of my mods. asap. Now back out to the garage for some tinkering
Midwest troutbum Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Cant go wrong with old town for stability and durability in our streams in Missouri. Had a predator k111 and would buy one again if I could justify the expense and use it more often. Plenty of cargo room on the larger models. Members Rivr_runnr Posted August 27, 2012 Members Posted August 27, 2012 I have 2 Ascend fishing models in green camo that are 10 footers. We ONLY use them on the Lower Niangua and have found them to be great little boats. I had a Dagger and sold it to purchase a Perception tandem when my son became old enough to go with me. My wife also came out of a 13 foot Perception and likes the Ascend because of the fishing features. They are comfortable and track well.
John Andrews Posted September 27, 2012 Posted September 27, 2012 I own it and love it. tracks great and light. perfect for my needs. Well worth the money.
E Green Posted September 28, 2012 Posted September 28, 2012 i am going to purchase a fishing kayak as well. I only want it for small streams and ponds. so much info to consider...my head hurts..haha
John Andrews Posted September 30, 2012 Posted September 30, 2012 I have owned my ascend fs10 for 9 weeks now. people who say they dont track good confuse me. Mine runs out dead straight. I am out a minimum of 2 times a week and have not not one issue other than the seat came apart. Bass pro gave me a new one with no grief at all.
