eric1978 Posted March 7, 2010 Posted March 7, 2010 Eric1978....from what you are saying it sounds like we need to cover a little more water than Buck's Hollow to Bay Creek. We really want to take our time though and fish and explore as much as possible and I just don't want to commit to having to go too far. I would rather have too much time than too little to do very little. Make sense? Did I mention we are in canoes? Not only that but we aren't sure how early in the day we will be able to get on. All that said though I am taking your advice into serious consideration. I appreciate the words o' wisdom! BTW, I live in St. Peters too so HOWDY NEIGHBOR! Howdy to you too! Whereabouts in St. Peters are ya? You know, you can make any stretch last however long you want...I've done 17 to Alley Spring in two days, but I could have spent a week on that stretch if I had the time to kill. It's a beautiful river...spend some time at Jam-Up and a bunch of time at the fishy-looking spots and paddle hard through the slack-water. You'll love it. Hope it doesn't rain around then...I got a float scheduled, too.
Members Beachmaster - Piney Pirate Posted March 8, 2010 Author Members Posted March 8, 2010 I live off Salt Lick rd. near the 70 & 79 exit. I know what you're saying about taking it slow. We fish the Big Piney for 3 days and we only do about 15 miles! It's the laziest trip imaginable, all we do is fish and swim...but it is awesome. Well, I think we have decided to do Buck Hollow to Bay Creek and if the water is up, we'll take out at Alley Springs. You guys have been a tremendous help.

Members 713lefty Posted March 29, 2010 Members Posted March 29, 2010 How was your trip? I'll be going down for 3 nights at the end of May. What can I expect in May? Is there any trout in the Jack's Fork? I believe it's mostly a Smallmouth stream, a restricted smallmouth size limit area. I release them anyway. The rock bass taste pretty good though! Is there any lure restrictions, single hook etc.? My favorite tactics are a jig with chompers trailer and a buzzbait.
GloryDaze Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 No Trout- I beleive it's a 1 smallie limit of 18" Should have a good float in May, water should be warming up and they should be a little more active. Can't really go wrong with that section any time of year when it's floatable. I'll give a report after I get back the 1st weekend in May Follow me on Twitter @DazeGlory

eric1978 Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 Anyone have any guesses on what JF will look like by Friday the 9th of April? It's really up right now, but it usually drops pretty quick. I need to find some floatable water ASAP!!
