Members kbillb Posted March 9, 2010 Members Posted March 9, 2010 Lucky enough to get this week off. Been fishing from the Kings to Eagle Rock. Saturday and Sunday were tough fished hard and managed a couple barely keeper LMs each day. Water was in the low 40s and reached mid to high 40s by Sunday PM. Keepers came off grubs and stick baits. Did catch a huge crappie Sunday night for dinner. Didn't get out until 4pm on Monday. Water was high 40s. Rain was rolling in so went straight to a nearby windy point with trees. The bite was on. Caught around fifteen fish with 4 keepers, 2 LMs, 1 ky and 1 smallie. Biggest was the ky, maybe 2.5 lbs. All fish came on a Mcstick...not sure what its called but it's not the chrome chad, it does have a green back with some orange on the bottom....not sure it mattered. Also caught 2 walleyes and kept the one that went 21. Went out this morning. Didn't do much early but when the wind picked up caught a LM over 4 and another that went 5.7 on my scale. They both came from the same very windy bluff point. Had the trolling motor on high and had to stand on it. Both came on a Staysee. The biggen is the best best fish I've caught on the Rock! The last 2 days have been great! Have some work to do but will diffently get out some more this week.
motoman Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Man, great report kbillb! Keep the info coming. These are great reads for those of us who can't get out regularly. You are on 'em!
Gone Fishing Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Great report. Not sure I could have handled the wind but it sounds like it was worth it.
redbud Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Good report ,I also Fished The White from Beaver Town to Big M on Sunday managed 10 fish with 4 keeps and one nice smallmouth Shakey head and jig& pig were the ticket for us.I dont think I have ever worked that hard for so few bites. Im not familiar with a staysee, can you elaborate please?
Members kbillb Posted March 16, 2010 Author Members Posted March 16, 2010 Thanks folks, my laptop died and I just got back to the real world. Redbud, a Staysee is a deep diving stick bait made by Lucky Craft. Fished the same areas Thusday through Sunday for a few hours each day. Not much luck on the bass but have been cathing walleye on the stick bait. Probably caught 10 over the last 3 days with 3 of those beeing keepers, biggest around 22 inches. Water temp has cooled down to lower 40s. Good Luck all...
Trav Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 Did the rain muddy up the King arm any? I will probably be there tomorrow....just curious what I am going to see. "May success follow your every cast." - Trav P. Johnson
