Leonard,

I was down there last night for my first attempt at night fishing. Been down there several days and had great success, thought I would take a stab at night. Any helpful tips I was there for about 2.5 hours only had one fish to hand? I was primarly throwing woolies and leech patterns. You said hibernators, do you weight your flies at night, go bigger, and do you dead drift them with no indicator?

Any help would be great.

Cad..

first questions...

where were you fishing and during what times?

I weight the (size 8) hibs with a little bead.. thats it..

the key last night seem to be 4-6 2in quick strips.. and let it set for a couple of seconds and then as you started the strip again thats where I got my hits.

Also I focused on the flats... caught most all my fish there..

did wonder down to around the big hole.. not much happening the so I went back to the flat

Thanks for the reponse I tried from the Big Hole up to #1, I was there from about 8:30 to 11:30. Wasn't using anything of good size mostly #14 woolies with a bead on them. Thanks for the tips I will give it a try. Hope to see you down there sometime.

That was me with the camera down by the pathway ..

Then went above you about and slipped in just below #1

If I would have known that was you I would have said something...

Hey Leonard. I am assuming you had some low water last night. You lucky dog. Good report.

Good stuff... sounds like Taney was on fire last night.

Well I made it down last night and hooked up with Leonard. Have to brag on the guy, he took time to show me the ropes and even donated few flies. Had a fantastic night, learned a lot. Brought my brother with me who is a 3rd time fly fisher and Leonard had him in double digits on fish last night. We were stripping hibernators mostly, it was enjoyable to watch Leonard work. Guy could catch a fish almost every cast if he wasn't taking the time to help us. I appreciate all his patience and generosity.

Left around midnight, wanted to stay longer but had to get up this morning.

Leonard, my apologies for not recognizing you last night. I was the guy in the middle of the river you had to work around when you went to the other side. I can say the olive PMS was catching some nice sized rainbows last night. Many fish in the 15 -19 inch range.

Attending the Sowbug on Friday.
