mosouthpaw Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 wetsand is the way to go, you might want to go over to bassboatcentral.com they have a restoration forum. lots of good tips and tricks for your glitter sled over at that forum.
DChance Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 The only way to get rid of oxidation 100% is by wetsanding. take the advice earlier and go over to bassboatcentral.com for great detailed instructions. When you are done, be sure to protect it with a good wax or protectant like BTS (Bow to Stern) to prevent the oxidation from returning. It is from exposure to the sun and elements without being protected. Remember there are a ton of "ideas" to make your boat shine, but not many actually protect and prevent. A good example is Pledge furniture polish. Those shines will just be temporary and you will be back to square one in no time. Wetsand and then BTS
flytyer57 Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 Love my new ranger. One thing Id like to do is clean up the clear coat. It has a foggy or milky look to it in some areas. Does anyone know what would clear that up so that I can wax it? Thanks All that shiny fiberglass is scarin' the fish away!!!!! There's a fine line between fishing and sitting there looking stupid.
Members Tyler Posted July 25, 2010 Members Posted July 25, 2010 Try this: Meguiars Fine Cut Cleaner... About $10.00 per bottle. "lasts quite a while" Buy it at Oreilly's, Autozone, Possibly Walmart. Works Great. I use it on plastics such as atv's, taillights, Headlights, and my truck. If by chance it won't solve your boat clear coat issue you will still find several ways to use it. I am almost 100% certain it will do wonders.
