ollie Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Be careful out there. Rainy season is upon us and all kinds of things can happen. This was just a small float trip, but obviuosly things went wrong. The water must be flowing harder than I thought through there. It really isn't very deep through there, but I would guess hypothermia might have set in on both of them. The article doesn't say anything about a life vest, but I'm sure no one had one on. They were at the launch ramp putting things away when the boat got away from them. Be careful out there. http://fourstateshomepage.com/content/fulltext/?cid=112492 "you can always beat the keeper, but you can never beat the post" There are only three things in life that are certain : death, taxes, and the wind blowing at Capps Creek!
Gilly Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Bummer. Even when we think we have the bases covered tragedy can worm it's fickle finger into our lives and change things in an instant. RIP young man. www.drydock516.com
ollie Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 I got a little more info on the event. Apparently the youngest one died. He was found downstream in some brushpile while the oldest one was stuck in the dam area. One word "hypothermia". That is what caused the death because the other one had to be rushed to hospital for that reason. It is sad. Last year some yahoo lost his life jet skiing on Shoal. Both senseless deaths IMO. Buzz Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 That's a bad deal. I'm sorry for the family. I spoke to my son today and he knew the older boy who survived, but didn't know the boy that died. If fishing was easy it would be called catching.
loo10 Posted March 24, 2010 Posted March 24, 2010 This is so tragic. To be done with your float trip and have this happen...so, so sad. My prayer is that this young man was prepared and is now in paradise. Make sure you are right with the man upstairs...you just never know.
