Gone Fishing Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Going out in the morning. Haven't been out since before the snow. Was wondering where the mudline was on Kings and James or is it all muddy by now.
skeeter Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 Going out in the morning. Haven't been out since before the snow. Was wondering where the mudline was on Kings and James or is it all muddy by now. After yesterday's 1.9 inches, measured at mid-lake, of warmer rain you're going to have to explore. The first mud-line would be from the extremely cold (34 to 38 degree) rain over the 20th/21st weekend. I'm thinking that cold water won't help much. Seems to me the trick will be to watch your temp. gauge and find the leading edge of the warmer run-off from the 25th downpour.
Sam Posted March 26, 2010 Posted March 26, 2010 On Wednesday, before this last rain, the water was pretty muddy and surface temp was 51 at Bridgeport on James. Up at Ashercane it was 53 and the water was stained but not muddy. We caught a few white bass, mostly females, and some real short crappie - it was slow. I'd say yesterday's rain didn't help anything, but a few warm dry days now will really get things going.
Gone Fishing Posted March 26, 2010 Author Posted March 26, 2010 Thanks for the reports guys. I was afraid of the rivers being to full of trash and muddy so I went up around Eagle Rock this morning. Fished till 10:45am. The fog was terrible. I was afraid of running to far. Caught 11 with only 2 keepers. A 3lb Lm on the grub and a 3.5lb SMJ on the stick. Water was clear and 48 degrees.
