Quillback Posted March 27, 2010 Posted March 27, 2010 It was a beautiful day, attached a pic of my ride prior to launching at Lost Bridge North, blue skies and flat water! Fishing was a little slow for me, a couple of spots caugh on a Mcstick and one walleye that got off at the boat (lucky for him as he was frying pan material). Also I attached a pic of one of the spots, he looks a little sick, some brown goo on the dorsal fin, scrapes on both sides.

I caught a LM near Rocky Branch 2 weeks ago that looked kind of like that on one side. We were joking around saying it was a 100 yr old fish- all beat up on one side and his lips were kind of like blood shot or something- it was seriously the ugliest bass I have ever seen!
Quillback Posted March 27, 2010 Author Posted March 27, 2010 Did you try for any whites up Indian? No I did not, I saw several boats heading up the way, maybe they found some.

A buddy of mine caught a spot and was reeling it in when a striper took it at the boat. He fought it awhile until the striper just let go cause there was no way to get a hook in it. It practically scaled it. It was almost unidentifiable. Just a thought. Thanks for the report. I haven't been out in two weeks. Hoping I can get out there this next week. Right now I have a few days off, but that may change.
Quillback Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 Could be NWA, it was scraped on the other side at about the same place, so maybe it had a close encounter with a big fish.
jay bird Posted March 28, 2010 Posted March 28, 2010 One Morning me and my Wife saw a huge splash up on top out in the middle of the lake. We could see something still splashing out there and so we went to take a look. It was a spot about 10-11 inches that had been thrashed. I wonder if thoes fish hear JAWS music when they are out in deep water.
jeb Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Sounds like you picked a nice day to fish, Jeff. What was the water temp? Now that I have my dirt bike events out of the way and am retiring on Wednesday, I plan to make up for some time lost on the water! Seems like with the cold winter and cold water we've had so far this year, I may be hitting the sweet spot. Or at least I hope so. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Quillback Posted March 29, 2010 Author Posted March 29, 2010 JEB, sounds like you made the retirement decision, good for you! I plan to be there in a month myself. Sorry, still don't have a temp probe or thermometer, but I just ordered one. Water was still cold, mid to upper forties I would guess. I think by the end of this week the bass should be going strong. I'm off Friday through Tuesday, so give me a holler if you need someone to weigh down the back of your boat, or we could take mine up War Eagle and try for whites. That Woo Daves c-riggin CD you gave me was very informative, I definitely plan to do some c-rig fishing once the water warms up.
jeb Posted March 29, 2010 Posted March 29, 2010 Sounds great, Jeff. Congrats on your impending retirement, as well! Everyone tells me I'll get bored retiring at 52, but I'm willing to find out for myself. I have plans for Friday, but Monday or Tuesday will probably work. Forecast has another front rolling through this weekend, so let's keep an eye on the weather and go from there. Glad you liked the DVD. I sure did well on C-rigs last year.
