roy_eros Posted April 3, 2010 Posted April 3, 2010 I have had some issues with trolling batteries running weak towards the end of long days on the water. Been looking at the minn kota alternator chargers, but havent heard of anybody who had tried one. From what i understand they put some charge back in your trolling batteries from your motors alternator when you run between spots. I am running a 24volt system so im not sure if it would hook up alright? Here is a link to the minn kota sight.. http://www.minnkotamotors.com/products/battery_chargers/dc_alternator.aspx Let me know what some of you guys think, would like to hear some reviews before i drop over $100 on one of these bad boys..lol
Walleyedmike Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I don't know what brand it is, but my boss has one of those chargers on his Tracker Tundra 24 volt trolling motor batteries. He loves it. He says when he fishes in Canada, he doesn't charge the batteries with electricity all week. They do make some long runs, though. He has told me he will never have a boat without an alternator charger again. WM
DChance Posted April 8, 2010 Posted April 8, 2010 I am not familiar with the minnKota, but you need to look into a Stay n Charge system. www.stayncharge.com Great product and great customer service. The All Charge will charge your trolling batteries while the big motor is running. Great customer service too, Jim is an A+ guy.
roy_eros Posted April 9, 2010 Author Posted April 9, 2010 Thanks for the input guys...im looking at getting one of these installed let you know how it goes.
