Great article and brings out a new interesting concept. The armed citizen is the first line of defense in a crime for the most part. If we survive, we call the police to assist. If that gets too bad, then the military has to assist.

Since Government wants to be all things to everybody, then they should screen all places that we are not allowed to carry to protect us whilst we are not able to protect ourselves. Way to go Kansas, this is monumental. Maybe this will carry over into the private sector also, you know, all the businesses that post the "Concealed Weapons Not Allowed" signs. The liability to protect us will fall on the business owner and the lawyers will have something to get even richer on.....

Bill in Kansas Would Allow CCW in Less Secure Areas.

Hope it starts a snowball of similar legislation across the country. That along with nationwide reciprocity of CCW licenses.

Wouldn't the state just have to up the tax rate in order to pay for all the new security equipment? Say...the tax rate on handguns, handgun ammo, and license fees for CCW permits?

Seems like they're just.....shooting themselves in the foot! PUN INTENDED!

Happy Easter.

The gun that I carried hidden but easily accessabe at my jobs for 30+ years saved my life or a robbery at least twice. It was not legal at the time but at Natural Bridge and Union St louis 3 in the morning I figured I was better off gettin caught with it than without it by a druggie looking for my wallet and credit cards. Several employees were shot going to lunch and to their cars at night.

The worst that I ever got was a policeman giving me a lecture and one night. I was randomly stopped one night and I imediately told him I had a gun. He handcuffed me lectured me and I told him why I was carring it he let me go with a stong warning.

When I was 15 during the summer of 1963 I used to ride in to work with my Dad. He would let me off at Union and Delmar on his way to the Chevy plant. I caught the street car to an electrical contractors office at 1919 Olive where I cleaned up the warehouse and did odd jobs. A whole different world back then.

The summer of 57 during my college break I was 17 and I lived at an apartment just down from natural bridge and Union and walked to my summer job at Fisher Body. Got off at 1 o'clock in the morning and walked home. Never had a problem or expected one.

Your are coreect Sir. A whole different world back then
