jeb Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Went fishing on Beaver with Quillback/Jeff yesterday in the Paririe Creek area. That boy can work a stick bait! I was throwing a wart and he was pulling one black bass in after another on the suspender, from the back of the boat no less! So I switched over after getting in the hole like 3 or 4 to nothing, and started catching a few, too. For sure it was the bait for yesterday. With the cloudy day, the wart and grub bite was almost completely dead. We ended up with at least 20 mostly legal sized black bass with some toads mixed in there, and 3 whites. Mostly females, but we caught some males later in the day. Had a great time showing him the PC area. He'd never fished around there before yesterday. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Quillback Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 JEB, thanks again for taking me, John is a great guy to fish with and his boat is an awesome fishing platform! As far as schooling anybody, it was John who knew where the fish were at, we went right to the hot bank and I had fish #1 on my fourth or fifth cast. Could not have done it without John's knowledge of the PC area. Thanks again for a great day! My big fish of the day, she came up behind the boat busting some shad on top, threw the Mcstick at her and she grabbed it on the 2nd twitch. I also caught a Buglemouth bass, AKA a carp on the Mcstick, it had it in it's mouth so I guess it wanted to eat it.
jeb Posted April 6, 2010 Author Posted April 6, 2010 Oh yeah, darn near forgot about that carp taking the stick bait. Very funny to see. I think the word is getting out. I had about 3 hours to fish this morning and there were more boats in the PC area today. Kind of funny, though, that I've seen no other boats fishing where I've been finding the fish. No idea why as it's a very attractive area for this time of year. They're loss, I guess. Grub bite was back on with the sun today. Caught another half dozen whites. Probably at least 15 black bass. Some bigger LM males today, too. The cold front moving through tonight should give them lockjaw for a couple of days, though. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha

Members Mike Mueller Posted April 8, 2010 Members Posted April 8, 2010 hey jeb ... how deep are you fishing the grub? I love throwing it this time of year!
jeb Posted April 8, 2010 Author Posted April 8, 2010 Very shallow. I was in 5-8' feet of water throwing it up into the edges of bushes that were in a foot of water. "Scrub the grub". John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
